Growing up as a teenager can be hard, especially when you’re overweight. But, is easy weight loss for teens doable?
Yes, it can be done and it’s a smart to make the decision now while you’re still young. Maybe you just want to look better or feel good about yourself, but many adults who experience weight problems throughout their lives from childhood or teenage years tend to have health problems as an adult.
However, keep in mind that your body is still growing and developing so dieting and cutting back on eating and deprieving it of vitamins and nutrients in the early years isn’t a good idea. Eliminating the junk food and fast foods however, is a very good start and can be a very important factor in taking off those extra pounds.
By junk food and fast foods we mean those empty calories that lead to weight gain without providing a good balance in nutrition. A growing body needs to eat, but a good start is with the right foods, even though you may be trying to lose weight.
Dieting is another thing to watch out for. Many of the fad diets requires you to cut back on certain foods and/or eliminate some foods completely and some tend to be downright unhealthy. While they may be effective in losing weight quickly, it may affect your health and may not be effective in keeping the weight off permanently.
Losing weight doesn’t mean starving yourself with a diet as we mentioned before your growing body needs the vitamins and nutrients for it to develop properly. In fact, it slows the metabolism so you’ll burn less calories and the body’s fat burning efficiency is reduced.
“Dieting” can cause problems later in life. Research studies shows that even a short period of very strict “dieting” during your early years can lead to low bone density, which can cause weak bones in later life as an adult. During the teenage years, up to 90 percent of your bone mass is laid down, so this isn’t the time to limit your intake of calcium, vitamin D or vitamin C, all of which are essential for growing strong bones and healthy weight loss or gain.
Instead, focus on eating healthy by making more nutritious food choices like lean meats (poultry), fresh fruits and vegetables, non-fat or skim milk, whole grains, etc. And daily exercise or at least increased physical activity. Sounds boring? Maybe, but it will promote a healthy lifestyle while losing weight. Which helps you to avoid health problems later in life.
Take a long term approach rather then the “fast weight loss” short term approach and make changes that lasts you a lifetime. And try to understand that heredity plays an important role in body shape and weight. You may be pear shaped, apple shaped or tea cup shaped and fat will appear on different parts of the body on different people.
Many overweight adults start out with unhealthy lifestyles in childhood by getting into the habit of not eating properly. This doesn’t mean you can’t change your habits as an adult, but lifestyle changes are much easier when you learn to eat right when you’re young.
A weight loss tips if you must go to a fast food restaurant is to try choosing the healthier choices, chicken salad with low fat dressing, grilled chicken sandwiches. Even the chicken sandwiches aren’t the healthiest, but they’re better for you then double cheeseburger and french fries.
Easy weight loss for teens can be hard, I mean who can resist french fries, fast food, sodas, chips, rich ice cream, toffee popcorn, cheeseburgers and sweets on a regular basis when you’re growing up. You can enjoy these and other similar foods, but in moderation, or as occasional treats.
